MBB BK 117 medical seating

THE PROJECT >

This project included Generation Global supplying new seat covers and cushions for custom designed seating. The seating is part of a medical system that was installed on a BK 117 helicopter. The design and certification were carried out by the client as part of the whole medical system installed.  See our regular BK 117 interior parts on our online shop.

The covers and cushions were custom and manufactured using the client’s drawings and specifications. The medical system is designed to have six rear seats and a stretcher. The seats mount behind the crew seats facing aft and on one side facing the stretcher.

The seat covers were manufactured from ‘Anthracite Grey’ (CG002) aviation leather. The stitching features white contrasting thread around the outer seams as well as vertical decorative stitch line’s down the base and back inserts. The leather in the inserts was perforated to provide a breathable section in the centre of the occupants back. The seats also have headrests which have the aircraft operator’s logo  embroidered as a feature into the centre.

THE CLIENT>

The client is a design organisation who are involved in the design and manufacture of a range of adapted special role interiors for use in both helicopters and aircraft. Projects include adaptions for medical and search and rescue with additional equipment including stretcher holds and aerial hoists.
