Robinson R44 in grey

SUMMARY >

This Robinson R44 helicopter interior project included supplying and fitting a new interior for the client. The parts are standard parts available on the Generation Global online shop and included new seat upholstery, headlining and bulkhead, door inserts, and floor coverings.

The client's color choice included a selection of greys, with the darker greys on the seating, door inserts, and carpets, and the headlining and bulkheads in a lighter grey. The headlining and bulkheads were wrapped in a vinyl material rather than the more common fabric material. The reason for the vinyl material choice was due to it being easier to clean. The vinyl used was in the color sea spray. The headlining includes cutouts for the pull handles fitted to the ceiling which is an option that is not on all helicopters.

The seating in the helicopter was the Generation II design and manufactured in charcoal grey leather (ADI-1121). A contrasting light silver thread was used on the stitching and embroidery. The seats feature double stitching around the outer seams and the R44 logo was embroidered on the seat backs of the four seats.

The door inserts follow the same design as the seating with charcoal grey leather and silver contrasting stitching. Double stitching runs across the doors in a sweeping wave design. The door inserts on the front right-hand door feature a handy pocket for the storage of flight documents.

The floor coverings in the helicopter were manufactured from iron-colored carpet. The floor coverings include the lower outboard sidewalls of the fuselage and the front faces of the seat pedestals. Composite floor trays were fitted over the carpet to protect it when the helicopter is being used for work in harsh conditions.

Also supplied was a door storage bag for the pilot's right-hand side door. The doors on a Robinson are designed to be removed simply with a pin and are often removed for spraying or other agricultural uses. The storage bag is a black durable canvas with a padded inner lining to protect the door from being scratched or damaged.
