Diamond DA42 trainer Seating

THE PROJECT>

Fast and exceptionally sleek, the Diamond DA42 Twin Star is manufactured by Austrian-based Diamond Aircraft industries. With hundreds being made since the early 2000s, these aircraft have become popular for flight training and aerial surveillance work. For this project, we had the pleasure of providing front and rear seat replacements for a client’s Diamond DA42. Parts for the DA42, as well as the DA20 and DA40, can all be found on Generation Global’s website with applicable certification.

This DA42’s seats were manufactured using Titanium Grey leather (ADI-1231) with matching thread. The seat upholstery design features horizontal seams on the bottom and backrest inserts, and plain panels on the controls, side bolsters, and headrests.

The Diamond Aircraft yokes are mounted on the front seat, sitting in between the legs of the pilot and co-pilot and the leather control boots are integrated into the seat upholstery. The cabin is accessed via the top of the wings, with the canopy lifting forward to grant entry.

The rear seat is accessed by a gull-wing door, which is located on the port side of the aircraft. The bench seat has a one-piece bottom cushion and two separate backrests. The upholstery we provided also covered the built-in armrest as well as the lower part of the seatback. The seat backrests are designed to fold forward, allowing for access to the rear luggage compartment, located behind the seatbacks.

THE CLIENT>

Our client for this project was an aviation training provider located in Adelaide, Australia where they’ve developed an academy in association with a major Australian airline. Their company will help educate the next generation of professional pilots.
