Hughes 369D Full Refurbishment

THE PROJECT>

The 369D is a popular light utility helicopter - originally manufactured by Hughes Helicopters, it is now manufactured by MD Helicopters as a part of their 500 series. For this project, Generation Global had the pleasure of completing a complete interior refresh on a client’s 369D helicopter. Our work included the installation of new seating, cyclic boots, wrapping for the rear-mid firewall, and paneling.

For a muted yet professional interior, we used lead grey leather (ADI-1111) for the seat upholstery. For front and rear seats, perforated leather inserts - done in the same lead grey color - provide extra breathability and comfort for passengers and pilots alike.

Each of the two front seats are composed of a back and base, which are mounted directly on the cabin divider. In addition to providing new covers for these seats, we also included new foam cushions. For a sharp final touch, we embossed the MD Helicopters logo onto each of the front seats’ backrests.

   

The rear seats, meanwhile, had a simpler bench layout with military-style slings. We replaced each seat sling using a modern black mesh material. The tensions were made with braided cord. With the new slings firmly in place, we were able to install the new covers and cushions.

We wrapped each rear panel with durable synthetic leather. Each section was carefully sized and individually wrapped, with some panels getting seams to accentuate their shape. The rear bulkhead pockets were covered with Lead Grey Leather (ADI 1111), adding cohesion to the overall interior theme.
