PA-31 Navajo Interior

THE PROJECT>

For this project, the Generation Global team refurbished a Piper PA-31-325 Navajo C/R. The refurbishment included seating, interior linings, floor coverings, and many other miscellaneous trims to provide a fully transformed interior.

The aircraft’s interior was given a charcoal-coloured interior theme which started with the seating. The seats were upholstered in charcoal grey leather; most of the stitchwork was also done in charcoal grey, although the inserts used navy blue stitching. The curtains, made from a charcoal Geneva fabric, were made to match the seat covers and armrests.

The deep charcoal grey stands out against the lighter-colored cabinetry, which had a high-gloss finish. The cabinetry in the aircraft included a cabin divider and two foldaway tray tables. Our team performed a number of repairs, especially along the edges of this cabinetry - once completed, these pieces looked good as new. Other repair work, meanwhile, was done on metal parts, which needed to be stripped back and refinished with a powder coat finish.

Above the armrest level, colours were kept in light tones to bring balance to the cabin. The ceiling panels were covered in white vinyl (Oxford) and all plastics were painted to match. The lower sidewalls were upholstered in a light grey textured fabric while the armrests were covered in charcoal grey leather to match the seats. The rear bulkhead panel was wrapped in Oxford white and had a feature panel through the centre in the grey textured fabric.

The floor coverings were a dark charcoal carpet (Diva) carpet. This helped ensure the eye is not drawn to the carpets but rather to the lighter parts of the interior. Sparing no detail, our team left no part untouched with the scope including painting the door jams, new door seals, lining the wing lockers, matching passenger cushions, leather entrance door chain covers, and new step tread on the entrance stairs.
